A new sers guide for new ser morgan sellers

This is a journal of the first sales of morgans.a guide to give the new okayer help from another new okayers mixed experience of selling for the first time.
Trying my first foray into selling. I had some repeat dates so "here goes nothing". my respect goes to the "seller" here. It took me like six hours to edit the ad, andto get it almost like I wanted. Those "insert fees" add up! What the heck its nice to share my coins with folks who appreciate them. My first foray hmmmmmm. Disaster wouldn't quite describe it. Listed three coins one was a 1899o MSthought is was a VAM micro o)(it wasn t),the second was an 1880 AU/BU, and an 1883cc MS 65. the 1880 originally listed at 13.50USD. it sat and didnt sell. I edited that one over and over and over. Nothing happened. it wasn't worth a cent to the buyers the way I did it. That's when the Idea hit me. i offered it for exactly that one cent. at the writing of this paragraph it is now at 15USD! It's not time to pat myself on the back yet. I am still into that coin for 23USD . let ya know what happens with that 1899o as i said before.its not that VAM . well having been stung (my Ego) i put that one up i think starting price was 1USD. i bought it for 32USD.I listed that one for a 5 day listing. first day nothing second I got a bite. 2 days and nothing more. finally on the last day that is when the action happened. it got bid to 8 then like 10.75 then 15 and boom it to 17.25USD . All this happened in the last 30 min of sale. but one bad thing. i am down on this one. cause i paid 32USD. lesson here is if you have to make a bottom line set a reserve. Now the 1883cc the crown jewel of my Auction. I went cadillac on it. i had the bold the highlight. looked at this coin when i bought it with a pair of reading glasses with the lenses popped out. to mag it to 2x. what i saw was extremely interesting. it had planchet deposits it had some die breaks and some doubling on letters. i figured this one had to be worth bucks. i listed for seven days with the $29.95 package. plus plus plus. i set a "buy it now" price of 485USD. (one fact the buy it now disappears after the first bid unless you set a reserve price, once the reserve is met it disappears again so set the reserve where you get close to what you want). it was there for like three days and generated bids upto 51USD. I went to a coin show and their in house expert looked at and and said this"either its extremely valuable or its a fake either way send it to a grading gepany". I was torn I am already like $35 into selling this coin. I paid roughly $160 so thats $190USD.Dilemma pass of what could be a true rarity or a counterfeit. well I erred on the side of caution. I am too new at all this to risk something as volatile as that. If any of the readers were one of the bidders then my apologies. but I have to know 100% either way what I am offering. I hope you understand. I also regemend buying a dealers loop with magnification of at least 10x. it helped me to see the particular characteristics of this coin. I bought mine at a coin show for $7.50 so you shouldn t pay more than that. an intangible note. padded mailing envelope cost about$0.70 packing tape $4.00 a roll. postage is about $.1.10 send first class with tracking. I also use the air-tite with rings thats about $0.50 . So price your shipping and handling costs accordingly. Don't forget your time in packing them and editing the items' add, Photography( a whole guide could or is written on that one). but a good picture Sells. It gemands a premium. Please, Vote "yes" if this guide has been helpful.
