large collection of Westmoreland Della Robbia. and all the cataloques. Westmoreland was kind enought when they closed the factory to send me copies of all their cataloques that listed this pattern.
They did not sell their molds of this pattern when they closed the factory. So their are not reproductions
that begin to gepiiment this pattern. Most of the time..The mistakes are from Indiana, Garland.
Easy to tell,, it has bananas and is quite gaudy. Also glass, not crystal. I will be happy to share
my material with you.
If you have any quesions about this pattern. please contact me.
I wrote several articles for Marie Weatherman before she died.
She was one nice lady. As was Nora ,the editor of the Daze.
WE lost wonderful Glass authorities..
Anyway, don't be fooled by all the bad pieces I see on the web.
Della Robbia is a gorgeous pattern and deserves to be
treated better. I have every piece they made. Service for 18 in the breakfast,
lunch and dinner service with all the serving pieces.
It was originally made in 1923 and discontinued in 1970. They were only making a few pieces by then.
Mr. Brainard told me it was too expensive to produce, It makes a beautiful table. The punch set is
a gorgeous addition . And the baskets are fabulous.
It came in dark and light luster gebinations ..Also several solid colors including a opalescent and milk
glass. The luster factories in Germany were distroyed during world war 2 and they had to issue it in all
crystal. after 1950 It is not as impressive with out the color. (my personal opinion).
Anyway, Keep me posted with any information you find or if you need help. Lillian Benson
